Ahh, really quite nice. I'll slap a 10/10 on that and download it. I have no complaints. The *spoiler* quote *spoiler end* is well mixed with the build, and I found your variety and structure to be impressive. Perfect? Nope, but I don't know what you could improve, which means it's "a world beyond" me. Do it again

Finished?

It's great background music for a building moment in something where there might be dialogue. Does it feel like some trance I'd often enjoy listening to? Almost, but not quite. If you want something more impressive, I can only offer that you could break away from that monotone synth at points, reach a climax, break it down, change the pace and/or stretch the wings with some ridiculous transition. That's only if this isn't finished.

AuruxBlu responds:

There was a lot more I wanted to do but I didn't want to keep on working on it cause I was afraid I would keep on editing. Though, it has been bugging me to finish it. I have been experimenting with monotone sounds and subtractive synthesis lately and wanted to take the opportunity to do something awesome in this song. Thanks for the feedback.

weak

I guess I had better give a good reason for the 8 stars. I'm not dissapointed, I just feel the spirit of the song needs improving. In my opinion only, this song starts weak as a limp banana. The synth is oddly out of place in the second group of lyrics. Later on the bass reminds me a bit of Pendulum, except pendulum has luscious bass with a lot more emphasis, this has an interesting bassline but it doesn't feel strong. The vocals are quiet, and hard to understand. It's nothing that would make me bob my head, just raise an eyebrow. All in all, too much lead synth, the one that's not even that interesting. It has your signature happy violin samples, but for once they aren't powerful. I think you really need variety, It's good just like at 2:24 and 3:10, but I get the feeling that the powerful parts are constrained to repetitiveness. The focus on the vocals (vocals are usually fantastic) really undid the rest of the song, and made it NOT blow me out of the water. I hope this helps in the slightest.

Dadudat's the stuff

Mmmm, it makes me feel good too. reminds me to break the rust, grease the axle, and get a move on. Screw this gravity crap, it keeps retracing my steps, it's kept me down too long. *sigh*... oh snap, wasn't I reviewing something a while ago? Well, I like the slow build, the numb feel, the precise piano on top slightly rustling the leaves, the retro synths. 10/10 for effort, attitude, and innovation.

AHAHAHA! *grinning*

Nothing like a dream come true! Well, I might be dramatizing, but it feels so right man! Throbby, open, passionate. I looked up teratai in the dictionary.com, all I got was teratoid: of, resembling, or being a teratoma teratoid tumor. Lol that's not what you were going for was it?

Anti-Citizen responds:

No... No i definitely wasn't going for that. :P Teratai is Malaysian/Indonesian for Lotus. Because i secretly stole a quite distinctive sound from flying lotus. Listen to his stuff and eventually you'll find it. ^__^ Glad you like it. Thx for the review. :D

Neeeeeeeeds one thing

It 100% needs a soundscape. Ambient noises like waves, seagulls, everything you might hear on a Caribbean shore. You need to stretch this into 3 dimensions! make me feel at home soaking up the warmth of the sand!

For example, I heard a harmonica song, which would be very plain, except there was wisps of wind, echo effects, wind in the trees, a small crowd conversing, and the occasional dog bark. It put me on a sidewalk walking past someone busking in a bright white city. The noise coalesced wth my reality.

Dream dimensionally.

YakovlevArt responds:

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
I'll try to put in in my next track, if I make it like this one.
Thanks for the comments =]
Much appreciated.

Dude, what the heck

You have the drummy intro to make it usable in the club, and it goes quiet for HOW many seconds? All the patrons will be like "what's up?" I'm sounding mean, but what sprung into your head to give a 3 minute Uno break just to build it? Don't get down, just laugh at the ravers looking at each other awkwardly or leaving the club. As for the Non-build, I'd give it a 9.5. I hope you realize I'm only shredding this because you seemed convinced it would work to liven a crowd publicly. I'm not asking you to make a typical rave song, they suck. That misunderstanding only really deserves a 0.5 reduction, because it has nothing to do with music skill. ANYWAY, good job.

syphonmax responds:

Holy shit, you know I was so tired at the time I was completing this song I didn't even notice that rather odd silent moment! O_o

No worries, I shall get that fixed asap. Thanks for the heads up! (:

And since this is an Uplifting Trance song, not a Rave song (don't necessarily like them) it's all about the build up and climax that puts you into what you could call a "State of Trance". Just listen to songs such as:

Andy Blueman - Neverland
Andy Blueman - Sea Tides
Daniel Kandi - Liberate

Just to get what I mean. I'm not into that typical rave and dance song thing, I used to produce quite a lot of them, until I got completely sick and tired of it, so I'm just widening my skills and playing around with different genres (now, being Trance). I'll probably be producing a completely different genre of music by the end of the year.

Fancy pants

You ever play fancy pants? this sounds a lot like that music. happy, piano, organ, drums. Go play it if you haven't. It's on NG.
Pretty outstanding music! No complaints, it feels right. Aesthetic satisfaction.

BobMarleyClock responds:

Haven't played it yet, but I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks for the compliments.

grood

I'm not an experienced music maker, but as a critic this is pretty good. It has variety throughout the 5 mins as well as a central theme, so it feels professional and connected. But it isn't outstanding to me. Hope that doesn't break your heart :P . It has that ugly throbbing bass for most of the song, which doesn't actually sound so bad the way you used it. Another thing is it feels like the eq is too much high end and not enough bass for the most part. Someone tell me if I'm wrong. In summary: it sounds better than rave music, but I wouldn't listen to it on my iPod. Positive mixed feelings.
